Membership

IAA asks that students pay $5 to our treasurer to become a member of our organization. Paying dues is a necessary practice in most organizations to provide the investment needed for programming throughout the year.

Our main source of income comes from the ticket sales of the Fall Show, Spring Show, and Formal. In addition, we have participated in various OSU facility clean-ups and fundraising activities.

The value of a membership can also be seen in other benefits and programming that IAA provides:

Social events

  • Bonfires
  • Picnics
  • Freshman Fun Night
  • Executive Board retreat
  • Movie screenings
  • Formals
Free food
  • Meetings
  • Social events
  • Community service events
Cultural shows
  • Fall
  • Spring
Philanthropy
  • Benefit Dinner
  • Service Days

These events are put on for our members. In the case of cultural shows specifically, IAA's main purpose in organizing the show is for our members to showcase their talents, not to reap profit. Any profit that is gained is subsequently invested in better future programming. With the success of last year's shows, we are able to provide even more for our members this year.

Each event requires resources that may not be immediately apparent, but that are necessary to the full experience. To give a few examples:

A Cultural Show

  • Taping a cultural show is costly in terms of videography and production, but it provides a memorable keepsake to participants.
  • Hall Rental/Payment for damages or clean-up incurred
  • Flyers
  • Decorations
  • Shirts
  • CD's

Dues can also be seen as an investment for the future; by building our club's resources, we guard the well-being of students to follow and provide for larger visions. If money had been spent in the past without concern to rebuilding funds, we would not be able to provide the events we do today.
